UPDATED!!! The great Michael Rooker is coming to the Chicago opening day of SUPER this Friday. Capone has all the details!!!

UPDATE: Hey again everyone. Earlier today, through his Twitter account (@Michael_Rooker), the man himself added this bit of info about his day in Chicago this Friday. In addition to the Q&A he'll be doing after the 7:20pm show, Rooker will also be introducing the 9:45pm showing of SUPER, and possibly will do a Q&A after, depending on his scheduling. Fingers crossed, everyone. Two Rooker appearances in one night is almost more than I can fathom.

See you there! -- Capone

Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here.

In the coming weekend in Chicago, there are two very special events taking place that I think every genre fan should be made aware of and attend. And I'll be there for both, so I'll know who does and doesn't show up. I'm going to tell you about the first event now, and write something special up about the second event ahead of a special interview I'm preparing for tomorrow.

If you've been following the release of SUPER across the country over the last couple of weeks, you may have noticed that writer-director James Gunn and/or a few of his cast members have been attending various opening-day screenings of the film, and I'll be damned if Chicago is going to be left out of the fun. First of all, SUPER is a remarkable little (Unrated) film, starring Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon, and the legendary Michael Rooker, who also starred in Gunn's SLITHER. The movie is subversively funny, one of the more violent exercises in recent memory (especially for a superhero film), and a ton of fun. And as much as I'd hate to jinx SUPER, the critics seem to be behind it as well.

SUPER opens in Chicago this Friday, April 8, at the historic Music Box Theatre, and for ONE SHOW ONLY, Michael Rooker will be on hand for a post-screening Q&A after the 7:20pm show. If you go to the Musix Box's SUPER page, you'll see all the details on the movie, the special screening, Rooker's appearance, and a link to order tickets in advance. This is NOT a free screening, but the ticket prices aren't jacked up, so it's just the regular ticket price.

A lot of people know Rooker most recently from playing the lovable redneck Merle on AMC's "The Walking Dead," but he's an established character actor that began his film career in the title role of HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER, and went on to be in such movies as EIGHT MEN OUT, MISSISSIPPI BURNING, SEA OF LOVE, DAYS OF THUNDER, JFK, THE DARK HALF, CLIFFHANGER, TOMBSTONE, THE HARD TRUTH, MALLRATS, ROSEWOOD, THE REPLACEMENT KILLERS, THE BONE COLLECTOR, THE 6TH DAY, REPLICANT, JUMPER, and so much more in movies, television, and the stage. And he'll be in Chicago to answer your questions, so take advantage of it folks.

See you there, and stay tuned for news of an all-day spectacular on Saturday that will feature several special guests, including a man who may be Chicago's finest horror director.
