Bryan Cranston to join dah pahty in Len Wiseman's Total Recall remake!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here.

Variety says Bryan Cranston just landed the villain role in the Len Wiseman directed, Kurt Wimmer scripted remake of Paul Verhoeven's adaptation of Philip K. Dick's We Can Remember It For You Wholesale (aka Total Recall).

I should be excited for this, but I find myself cursing Cranston because now I have to see this. Bryan Cranston is fucking awesome. If you haven't seen Breaking Bad you're missing out on some of the best television ever. He'll make a great, intimidating baddie for this universe, playing against Collin Farrell's heroic lead.

As great as the cast is, as much potential as there is in Wimmer's screenplay, it's still being directed by Len Wiseman, who may be the nicest dude in the world, but he makes really shitty movies. Really, really, really shitty movies. Worse still, he takes good franchises and concepts and turns them shitty. He made John McClane an average hero and somehow made werewolves fighting vampires cheesy and boring.

I'm not totally against the idea of a remake as Verhoeven's original movie isn't exactly letter and verse Philip K. Dick... Hell, remember that originally David Cronenberg was going to direct an adaptation of that story with Richard Dreyfuss in the lead. How awesome would that have been?

And now I have to sit through another Len Wiseman movie. Thanks, Bryan Cranston!
