Travolta And Cage To Face Off Again?

Nordling here.

No, we're not talking about a sequel to John Woo's action film.  But we are talking a reteaming of John Travolta and Nicolas Cage in possibly two films, according to Vulture.  The first, SHRAPNEL, is scripted by Evan Dougherty and it is supposed to be John McTiernan's return to the action film genre, barring any legal complications.  Right now McTiernan's out on appeal of his conviction and could still very possibly do this film, which is about a Bosnian soldier seeking revenge on the American who wounded him, by running his own war game during a supposedly friendly hunting trip.  We know these two can fight each other onscreen well, so I'd love for McTiernan to get back in the chair for this one.

The second is called SEA TRIAL, based on the novel by Frank De Felitta (AUDREY ROSE, THE ENTITY), which looks to be out of print.  The 1980s novel is a thriller that seems to be inspired by THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME, as a young couple on a cruise may not be who they seem.  It's unclear who Travolta or Cage would be playing, and funding for the film has not been established yet.

FACE/OFF was too much fun, and to not let these two actors riff off each other again would be a loss, so I hope one of these projects happens.  I'd especially love to see another John McTiernan film.

Nordling, out.
