CLASH OF THE TITANS Sequel Story Details!!

Merrick here...

Warner Bros. issued some sort of press release pertaining to the CLASH OF THE TITANS sequel, now filming under the direction of Jonathan Liebesman (BATTLE: LOS ANGELES).

For some reason, AICN didn't actually receive said start-of-production notice, so we cribbed the information below from our man Garth over at Dark Horizons.  Be sure to JUMP TO DH for a bit more details from the issuance, including some interesting casting points.

While the picture's title has generally been assumed to be WRATH OF THE TITANS (even Liam Neeson has called it this), Garth notes that the release goes out of its way not to affix a title or branding to the project - so who knows what they'll end up calling it?

The release offers-up a number of plot details - which, while not terribly specific, could be seen as SPOILERS by someone wishing to remain completely in the dark.  As such, proceed with caution.

Here you go...

"A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus—the demigod son of Zeus—is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius.

Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades and Poseidon.

The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld.

Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus’ godly son, Ares (Edgar Ramírez), switch loyalty and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans’ strength grows stronger as Zeus’ remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth.

Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidon’s demigod son, Argenor (Toby Kebbell), and fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind."
