Dear Alan Rickman... Re: Conan O'Brien Misquote of ME about GALAXY QUEST!

Alright, so I'm sitting here in my room minding my own affairs... talking with Father Geek about the -30 windchill in Chicago, my magic shoes, sewer covers really do have steam coming out, cabbies, Carson's Ribs and more, when suddenly from the living room comes the voice of Alan Rickman saying my name. Dad hushes me... THen says something along linest that Alan Rickman said that I said that GALAXY QUEST was the greatest movie ever made.
AHEM...
Now, I really adore GALAXY QUEST. I think that it is to Star Trek, what BLAZING SADDLES was to DESTRY RIDES AGAIN and YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN was to FRANKENSTEIN, BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN and SON OF FRANKENSTEIN.... HOWEVER... I like BLAZING SADDLES and YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN more.
GALAXY QUEST is smarter and far funnier and cooler than MEN IN BLACK (which is a film I don't enjoy all that much) and the cast is note perfect. BUT... This is a parody of STAR TREK... Not DESTRY RIDES AGAIN or FRANKENSTEIN. It's about source material. I love Star Trek... but they've kinda been parodying themselves for the last decade as it is.... It's just GALAXY QUEST does a better job of making loving fun of and with Star Trek, than Star Trek does.
As a kid brought up on STAR TREK, this movie is REAL FUCKING COOL.... HOWEVER... IT IS NOT THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER MADE... sorry Alan... that quote is reserved (in my mind) for KING KONG (1933) and THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD and TREASURE OF SIERRE MADRE and SINGING IN THE RAIN and FOOTLIGHT PARADE and EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and .... well... as you can see I have no DEFINITE GREATEST MOVIE EVER MADE.... It's sorta like comparing GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE done perfect with LASAGNA done perfect.... Given your mood... you may choose one over the other.... But I would never choose to say that a Pop Tart is the greatest food ever made... and GALAXY QUEST is a nice warm tasty Pop Tart while watching Saturday Morning Cartoons... It rocks... but it is... just a Pop Tart.
