Hey folks, Harry here...
Trapped with internet so slow - that I'm stuck trying to download this damn thing so I can comment about it for y'all... but I figure... I'll get it eventually. From the start of it, it seems they're dead set on selling it as an Earth bound story primarily. I think that's a mistake, cuz I've heard that most of the film takes place in the realm of Asgard and it's adjoining lands... but I haven't been able to get more than 30% of this trailer loaded so far. So take a look and let me know in Talkback what you think. Hopefully, the CAPTAIN AMERICA full length trailer is coming soon. Right?
After I see this, I'll be back to share my thoughts:
Harry here again... I like it, but I think using the modern hook at the beginning is the wrong way to go with the trailer. It should start with them finding Thor in the desert, cut to Jane asking where Thor came from, cut to Heimdall's narration about the truth of existence, which instantly explains Asgard and a bit about the multiverse.
With this trailer - we're not even introduced to the characters beyond THOR. The natural comic geeks know the Warriors Three, Odin, Heimdall, Loki, Sif, Frigga, etc.... We know that is Asgard, we see the Rainbow Bridge... but how about anyone else? The trailer simply introduces a guy named THOR - but not that he's the God of Thunder, son of Odin, half-brother of Loki. Not that Loki is the God of Mischief. This is all a shame, because the script and film is mostly about Asgard and that world. Sure, midgard is involved - but almost everything that seems ludicrous in this trailer is handled properly within the script with the proper context.
I've talked with 3 different people that have seen a rough cut of the film and they've told me it is outstanding. I just want 1 trailer that introduces the world of THOR, not ours.
