According to THE BUGGED LAMPS in the Nakatomi Building that Fox uses, a bit of discussing is going on. What say ye? Well as we speak, write and breathe them wascally guys (I presume this is Mechanic, Rothman and company) are talking about... When they will restore James Cameron's Profit Participation for TITANIC. Now this is just what I'm hearing from THE BUGGED LAMPS, which are usually reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyy reliable. Of course THE BUGGED LAMPS are not their regular spy names, but they were very very paranoid about this info. You see now that Titanic has whupped up on the Golden Globes, taken in close to 400 million in worldwide box office... well it looks like... gasp....shock..... choke..... the ahem... the suits are going to give money that they don't have to, to Cameron. The reason for all the secrecy is apparently over whether or not to announce this... before or after the Oscars. You see right now all the focus is on the movie, how great it is, how people are swept up in it, not about the money. Which is a good thing. I am sooooo happy that the press managed to see past the 'money issue' it really is an amazing thing for the media to drop there usual obsession with following money trails. But there is a worry that if they restore the deal, well... then the entire industry will be focusing on 'the deal' and not what really counts, which is the film itself. Plus the fact that Cameron made the self-sacrificing act on his masterpiece... well it sure makes for one hell of a strong point for Best Director, don't it?
What do I say? SHOW HIM THE MONEY... after the Oscars. Titanic is going to continue to power through paying not only for itself but Alien Resurrection and Speed 2 as well, and it's going to be a HUGE video, laser disc and DVD when they get around to that too.
