Penelope Cruz campaigning for a role in MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA'

If you have no idea who Penelope Cruz is... I feel sorrow for you. She is frankly one of the most beautiful actresses in the world... and most of you will be introduced to her in ALL THE PRETTY HORSES. I had the pleasure to meet her on that set and watched her film a very emotional scene with Matt Damon... again and again and again. Time after time pouring her heart out. Also, you might know her work from this year's ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER... A wonderful film that is currently on the art house circuit. BUT... From Ikkemotube in Spain, word has reached me that the word is all over Spain that Penelope Cruz really wants to take part in MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA... apparently wanting to play the lead. While I don't think of her features as being particularly Asian... I have no doubt that she is an actress of exceptional talent. As for this project, the word is still that it will be the next project for Spielberg after MINORITY REPORT gets started this February/March. Movement on Geisha has been very quiet... if it has been moving at all. Let's see where MOAG goes from here...
