Mr. Crepe decided to comment on what he knows about the "tests" that are/were being done for the Planet of the Apes remake. It basically confirms what I said, but adds a detail about Rick Baker's involvement. Personally I would go with Rick Baker who is the god of all things ape...
I used to work at Stan Winston's and know that preproduction drawings and makeup tests were done several years ago. I also know that Rick Baker did some makeup tests that a few of my friends say were much better. He did the personally funded tests because the producers were not happy with Stan's tests that they had funded. ala Shades of Rick and Carlo Rambaldi on King Kong
