Info on STARSHIP TROOPERS 2, if Verhoeven gets to do it, from the land of the Dutch!!! This info from the TULIP STOMPER, a strange metallic robot that has a Bolt for a head. It really is scary. I just hope that the world wide gross was enough to warrant it, but then again, I would rather see Paul do CRUSADE or HOUDINI next!!!
Maybe this information on Paul Verhoeven might interest you. I just watched an exclusive interview with him on a Dutch music channel, where he was asked about a possible sequel to 'Starship Troopers'. Now, as you probably know, Verhoeven has never made a sequel to any of his films, but he expressed some serious interest in doing so for the first time. In his opinion, there are lots of unexplored possibilities in the Starship Troopers concept, with other characters, planets and bugs to explore (he suggested more intelligent bugs). Therefore, he said he would do a sequel if possible, but it depends on whether the studio decides to make it. Verhoeven presumed that, in order to get Troopers Two greenlighted, the worldwide gross of Troopers One would have to reach 200 million dollars. "If not, the studio will think it's economically irresponsible to make another one", to quote the man himself.
As a Troopers fan, I think we should all keep our fingers crossed for it to break that 200 barrier!
