And The Lead In The 21 JUMP STREET Movie May Be...

The 21 JUMP STREET movie adaptation continues to congeal. Deadline says that Channing Tatum (Duke in Sommers' G.I. JOE movie, Pretty Boy Floyd in Michael Mann's PUBLIC ENEMIES) is at 'the top of the list' for the lead role in the picture - he'd appear alongside Jonah Hill. Based on the television series from the late 1980s/early 90s which starred Johnny Depp, Steven Williams, Richard Grieco, Peter and Michael DeLuise and the likes (available HERE), the movie is being directed by Chris Miller and Phil Lord (the directorial team behind CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS). There have been occasional murmurings that Depp could make some kind of appearance in the film - which would certainly provide an agreeably shrewd marketing angle - could make some sort of appearance in the project. No word on where that notions stands at this time.
