BACK TO THE FUTURE's Bob Gale Talks Doc Brown's Insurance Scam, Brother Kissing, Sequels, And More!!

Merrick here...
The BACK TO THE FUTURE films hit Blu-Ray today (the set is available HERE), and over at MTV co-writer/producer Bob Gale is offering some interesting insight into elements of the first film many people haven't caught onto, and discusses possible futures for the franchise. Two choice nuggets from the piece:
Gale...The opening shot, when the camera is going through Doc's laboratory, there's a newspaper on the wall that says the Brown mansion was destroyed in a fire. You can infer from that that maybe Doc set his house on fire to collect the insurance money.
...and...
Gale: My other favorite thing that nobody ever picks up on is when Lorraine is in the car with Marty and she pulls away after they kiss and she says, "It feels like I'm kissing my brother." Well, how does she know that? That tells you she was doing some interesting things with her brother.
Gale also indicates that thoughts of a fourth film in the franchise "went out of" the production team's "consciousness" when Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinsons, and that (contractually) Universal must first approach trilogy management before attempting any other BTTF pictures. More details, including Gale's perspective on the banishment of Eric Stoltz from the Marty McFly role, can be found HERE. Interesting stuff...check it out.
