Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes pic!
I’m quite partial to George Romero’s movies. Let’s face it, he’s an incredibly hit or miss director and has been for decades. I couldn’t tell you which movie was worse, Season of The Witch or Diary of the Dead, but it’s because of his history of duds followed up with masterpieces that I will watch any new George Romero movie.
We go way back to the beginning with NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. This picture weirds me out because I know Romero as a white-Haired grandpa with giant glasses. That’s the image I have of the man and to see him young is almost a shock. You'll notice him through the window of the car, in the background going over the script, it looks like.
From the classic opening of one of the most influential horror films of all time, I give you today’s BtSPotD! Click for a slightly bigger image! Enjoy!
If you have a pic you think should be included email me. I’m looking for the iconic, the rare or the just plain cool behind the scenes shots to feature here.
Harry sent me over a shot he took of Russell Streiner, Johnny himself, holding up a behind the scenes color picture (!!!) from the making of Night of the Living Dead. Apparently, Russell wouldn't let Harry get a shot of just the sweet and rare color photo by itself, but Harry was able to sweet talk him into posing with it.
Streiner told Harry that the car was his mom's car and she had no idea they broke the window for the movie until the premiere. They had replaced it like nothing had happened, but when she was at the premiere apparently she wasn't too happy to see the cemetery zombie put that rock through her window.
Anyway, here's the pic. Did you know it was Fall when they shot the scene? You do now, look at the trees! Click for the higher res version.
