With Spielberg's Lincoln Movie Not In Our Foreseeable Future, We Get...ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE SLAYER (in 3D)!!

Merrick here...
We've been hearing for some time that a movie version of Seth Grahame-Smith's book ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER (available HERE) was in the works , but now it looks like it's finally getting up and running in a very real sense. Fox won the rights to the moviefication of the project over the weekend - THIS piece in Variety says pre-production will begin immediately on the $69 million project, which is currently targeting a 2012 release. Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (WANTED, NIGHT WATCH, DAY WATCH) will produce the 3D picture - which Bekmambetov will also direct. Grahame-Smith will script, building from his own novel. Grahame-Smith also wrote PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES , for which a film version is also being mulled. Director David O. Russell (THREE KINGS, the forthcoming THE FIGHTER ) and Natalie Portman were both involved not too long ago - no word on where that one is at the moment. This reminds me: whatever happened to PRIDE AND PREDATOR, which was being produced by Elton John's company (details HERE)?
