Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes pic!
Holy shit, it’s October! You know what that means! Time for an all horror/creature/genre run of BtSPotD!
And we’re kicking it off in style with one of my favorite pictures in the folder. This one rivals the two Alien pics I’ve posted, in my opinion.
It could be that I’m crazy obsessed with Stanley Kubrick’s THE SHINING. Tonally it’s one of the most effective horror movies of all time and it’s filled with so many iconic moments that it has an identity that most films never reach. I can play one cue from the great Wendy/Walter Carlos score and you know it’s The Shining. I could take one screen grab of the hotel hallway and you’d know it’s The Overlook.
The book and the movie are fairly different beasts and I can understand why King would have problems with what Kubrick did to the story, but the dude made a brilliant flick using the main conceit and characters as a jumping off point and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
So, horror lovers welcome to October 2010 and look for 30 more ghoulish pictures in the days to come!
