Is James Cameron directing PLANET OF THE APES'

I don't think so. My sources growing out of Cameron's skull tell me that the director RoboGeek is worshipping will take a bit of time off. Does this make sense? Sure... Cameron is going to win the Oscar for Best Director, just like Spielberg, Zemeckis, Costner, Gibson, etc. Then you take at least a year off to live in Disneyland, Universal Theme Park, Six Flags, California, elsewhere and 'revitalize those artistic juices'.

In the meanwhile he'll work on 'producing' a couple of projects, fine tuning his own, and well getting his next one right. You see, once you win an Oscar for Best Direction, there is a matter of 'slumping.' Spielberg and Lost World. Zemeckis and Contact (hey I loved it, read my review, but it didn't perform like it shoulda, probably Chris' fault.) Costner and The Postman, Gibson and ... well the word is he'll direct Fahrenheit 451 from Bradbury's script, but it'll be compared to Truffaut's... You see what I'm saying.

Reports are filtering in that Cameron has said he's directing PLANET OF THE APES and that Stan Winston is doing make up tests. Well. This all started up again because in a French interview, on a program featured on Canal 1 in well France, Cameron was doing publicity for Titanic in advance of it being released there. I know this, because the French that interviewed me a couple of weeks back were doing so, because they wanted the interview for the segment immediately proceeding his live interview.

Now I did a real good job of exhibiting my exact level of geeked out enthusiasm for Titanic, it had been a mere 72 hours since seeing it for the first time, and it was not out of my mind yet. (nor is it likely to anytime soon.) Cameron then mentioned in his segment that he was thinking of producing a remake of Planet of the Apes, but that they didn't really have a script yet, and that he would take a swing at it.

If you have been reading the site you would have found this out about a month ago. I had reported that Cameron was going to produce it, that he was going to rewrite it. Now for the make up tests that Stan Winston 'is' doing. My people tell me that 'THE' makeup tests were done years ago. That they looked great. All three heads Stan's crew made were 'fantastic'. At the time I believe the reports would have you believe that an entire army was already constructed.

When will we have a definitive statement as to what Cameron is doing next and when? Well most likely... Not to surrender... but there is a reporter over at THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER that Cameron stays in pretty close contact with. She broke the TITANIC story on October 2, 1995 when Cameron called her from the deck of the Russian Research Vessel to tell her what was going on. No I do have spies that I didn't have waaaaaay back then. There is a possiblity that I could beat Paula. But this would be a 'miracle'. It seems she and the Hollywood Reporter beat have been landing the Cameron scoops pretty regular for the past 5 years. Well, gosh. How can a little guy like me stand up to that kinda pressure? I mean golly.

I dare say you won't find a reference to Josh Sully before this, unless you check my search engine, in which case you'll find it waaaay back there. He's the main character in AVATAR. Or that the term AVATAR represents the term for the biologically engineered, telepathically linked cross breeding of a man (Josh Sully) with the alien lifeform on the planet. It is this 'avatar' through which the adventure is had. Thus the need for the full CGI character. It ain't quite human.

Or you won't find anything about an electrically powered Mafioso type that has the Sandman as a henchmen. Or that this Electrically powered guy (who ain't Electro) will kill his henchmen, various enemies, and bring them back to life just to prove his control of life and death. Nah that's out there, suuuure. Or that Spider-man will be narrating the film in that 'Marvel Way'!

Yeah, I'm in for this challenge. This should be some fun. I'll most likely get my ass whupped something fierce, I hope so, cause that just means there's info to whup my buttocks with!!! Ain't this competitive spirit fun?
