Here’s today’s Behind the Scenes Pic. Don’t know what that bastard shark will do with it. Might eat it, I ‘spose.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes pic!
There’s not a whole helluva lot of Behind the Scenes pics from my favorite movie, JAWS, that I didn’t run in the Happy 35th Birthday article (click here if you missed it) and there are even fewer that haven’t seen the light of day.
What I’m presenting here will be, to the best of my knowledge, the very first time this shot has even seen publication.
This pic came to me via J. Michael Roddy, all around JAWS fanatic and producer of THE SHARK IS STILL WORKING doc. He received the picture from the daughter of make-up man Harry Buchman. Naturally, the focus is always on the shark, but Harry was around doing his job, too, as we can witness in this shot where he’s touching up Robert Shaw’s Quint before a take as a wet-suited Spielberg looks on.
I know I nerd out on Jaws a lot, but look at Shaw’s costuming. Even here it feels used, worn, yet iconic. Maybe not so iconic to people who don’t obsess over this film, granted, but it’s a small detail that jumped out to me when I looked at the picture.
Here it is (click for a bigger version):
A reader by the name of Craig Crane color-corrected this older, faded photo for you folks, so here's the retouched pic for your viewing pleasure!
If you have a pic you think should be included email me. I’m looking for the iconic, the rare or the just plain cool behind the scenes shots to feature here.
Tomorrow’s Behind the Scenes Pic is gonna make fists with its toes! See ya’ then!
