As if to remind us that James Bond and The Hobbit are not the only franchises it controls, MGM is moving forward with a big-screen version of “The Outer Limits.”
Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, who scripted Project Greenlight’s “Feast” before they went on to write four “Saw” movies, have been hired to script a “Limits” for the cinema, according to Variety.
The original sci-fi series ran two seasons on ABC between 1963 and 1965. MGM then managed to produce seven more seasons of the series between 1995 and 2002.
At least since 2008, Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company has separately been looking into launching a new single-story “Twilight Zone” movie at Warner Bros. There’s no word on whether MGM is also pursuing a one-tale approach.
