Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes pic!
Keeping the Empire Strikes Back pictures coming (remember I’m doing one or two a week in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the film and the generous bounty of BTS from this flick sent to me by geeks like you), I grabbed this one, which caught my eye immediately.
Doing a little big of digging, I think it first appeared earlier this year in Maxim, but it’s tough tracking it back further. It’s difficult with the usual BTS stuff, but especially so with anything Star Wars. Matter of fact, super die hards will be hard pressed to find much new in what I’m running… with the possible exception of some JEDI images sent to me by the family of a crew member.
But there have been so many books, articles, etc on the holy trilogy that it’s not exactly easy to find new images. Hopefully many of these will be new to you, as they were to me.
Needless to say all the pictures go back to Lucasfilm anyway you figure and this picture is way too badass not to feature here.
To me a picture like this is a prime example of what I’m trying to show on a daily basis here. Everybody knows what is going on in this shot, but I’m willing to bet many of you (myself included) didn’t think about how they actually filmed the opening crawl.
No costumes, no Vader, no lightsabers, no hot Carrie Fisher (that will come in due time)… just a camera, painted glass and movie history being burned into celluloid.
Here it is:

If you have a pic you think should be included email me. I’m looking for the iconic, the rare or the just plain cool behind the scenes shots to feature here.
Tomorrow’s Behind the Scenes Pic… You gotta be fuckin’ kidding me.
