FATHER GEEK addresses the Chicago Poll issue!

OK, enough already, I give up!!! FATHER GEEK is more than aware that there have been hundreds of motion pictures filmed in and around Chicago. I know that probably hundreds more involve Chicago plotlines, or characters, or bands, or sporting events. I never intended to offer up a complete, or even near complete listing of these movies. I really thought I did really well just putting together a list of 40 of them. I think very few people, even Windy Citites, could do that with out hours of research that I didn't resort to.
However I am deeply sorry that 2 flicks in paticular were left off this poll. FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF is a fantastic movie that I saw again recently at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema's midnight screenings, all three of them. It is a favorite of mine and Harry counts it among his absolute favorites in the High School Genre. The other great Chicago film I over looked was another that I simply love, ABOUT LAST NIGHT. There is no doubt in my mine that these 2 would finish in the poll's top 5 and Ferris would probably give the BLUES BROTHERS a real run for the money. SORRY!
While we're here on this subject let me tell you a little about how the polls work. We had the software written in such a way that we could not tamper with the results. We wanted the poll results, like the Review voting, to be as pure as possible. So once a poll is put up nothing can be changed. We can't correct a date, or a spelling error. This has been embarassing on occasion, but no corrections can be made and the poll itself cannot be erased, only moved to the next spot on the long "View All Polls" list when a new poll is written. So as much as Father Geek would like to, omissions cannot be inserted into a posted survey. On more than one occasion Father Geek has wished this could be done, but its just impossible without making changes in the code that would allow totals to be altered also, and we don't want that. I remembered BUELLER just minutes after posting this poll (a real Homer experience I assure you) and I dreaded the mountain of E-Mails that would surely follow. Well, they did! Have mercy, I love the film as much as any of you, I promise.
