We still don’t know who’s going to direct, but Bruce Greenwood – who played Enterprise captain Christopher Pike in the 2009 version of “Star Trek” – tells MTV the next “Trek” is expected to start shooting in January.
Greenwood, on a “Dinner For Schmucks” red carpet, says also he doesn’t yet know if he’ll be appearing in the sequel.
Paramount has set June 29, 2012 as the release date for the 12th big-screen “Trek.”
Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof, who all had a hand in scripting the 2009 “Trek” directed by J.J. Abrams, have been drafting a screenplay for the sequel. Abrams and Bryan Burk are both returning as produers.
