Ok, we have some different levels of PREQUEL news here. First I have some news about Sam Jackson appearances and Natalie Portman appearances on media shows recently. Then I have some spies (alleged spies) on the inside that are spilling some beans. There could be some stuff that could get the 'sensitive' types angry. So if you are 'sensitive' to the tiniest of Prequel stuff (ie a fact about say a mechanical thing) then don't read past the spoilers. But by all means enjoy the 'interview stuff'.
The first here comes from local sky wizard, Copernicus. And god help us if Copernicus and Moriarty ever get together, we'd be doomed for sure!!!
I have taken time off from developing my heliocentric theory of the universe and my anti-supernova destruction deterrent system to report on Samuel L. Jackson's appearance on that Destroyer Barbarian's show. Sam-u-el said he saw the first screening of Star Wars ever and he and the rest of the audience were "rolled up", back in the days when he was "usin'"! I have no idea what he's talking about *COUGH!* *COUGH!*. Using? Using what? *COUGH!*
He said when previously asked what director he'd most like to work with, he said George Lucas. That apparently got back to Lucas, and he hired him on for a part. He went on it great detail about Lucas's ranch, but alas, no prequel news. Curse that Irish Barbarian for not probing him deeply for prequel info.
Anyway he seemed to love working with Quentin on Jackie Brown and said Quentin would be just about hyperactive on set and even laugh out loud while they were filming, and that he was just excited about the whole moviemaking process. But dammit, I wanted confirmation that his prequel character doesn't die! Can you imagine the infinite coolness of Samuel - the lightsaber that says bad motherfucker on it - Jedi. He needs to have a huge part in number 2. Can you image Sam-Jack learning from Yoda! Samuel the Jedi, what a pop icon. I want my action figure now!
Now we have 'The Cool One' giving a word for word documentation of ... Rosie O'Donnell and Sam Jackson talking about the 'new star wars movie'. Enjoy.
rosie:now i read your also in the new "star wars" movie.
sam:yeah i just did my four days this summer.
rosie:and your not allowed to say who you are in the movie?
sam:no! not at all! sam:but it was fun though, i had a really great time!
rosie:can we recognize you, or did you get all "aliened out"?
sam:oh i'm pretty much just like this... but there were actors there
that i wouldn't recognize if they walked in this room right now!
rosie:oh really?
sam:yeah, and it was great, they had little kids there and uh... darth
vader is about 8 years old in this.
rosie:right...
sam:yeah it was real nice, obi wan kenobi was about 18, played by ewan
mcgregor.
rosie:right...
sam:so there was just this huge blue screen set and stuff...
rosie:right...
sam:all i know is they gave me 4 pages, i did my pages and i don't know
what came before or after that really...
rosie:you just did it and went home?
sam:yeah but i'm just so glad i was part of it.
rosie:yeah thats gonna be a wonderful thing!
sam:i can't wait!
rosie:yeah and your grandkids will get to watch that!
sam:really? you think?
rosie:i think so! those are the kind of movies that stick around!
Before I get to the spoilers, let me say that Natalie Portman has CONFIRMED that
she has been signed for all 3 films, on Rosie today, I'm told. Now, this is just a bit. A tiny
bit. Actually confirmation of a 'type of character' being in the film. Not a fave character,
or even a character, more of a 'thing'. Not major, just a minor thing in my opinion. But if
you don't like this sorta thing, don't read. It was reported the Grey Hulk wearing a fedora.
Ummm, ok... SO WARNING WARNING WARNING!!!!
A couple of friends of mine were extras on the new star wars film -
they had been picked 'cause they were all very tall. They had
answered a request on a local fan site and lo and behold they were
chosen...
It turns out they were dressed up as battle droids to be CG'd out at a
later date. They filmed a battle sequence where one of them was chopped
in half by one the stars.
Not much I know but hey!
OK, now for the 'bigger' stuff. First the credibility bit. The following was sent to me
by someone, who at least knows a HUGE spoiler for the first film. I know this spoiler to
be true, thus making him or her seem very in the know. Now I don't know if the following
is true, but it doesn't sound outrageous, and it sounds plausible. It 'could be'. This person
does know one thing I won't spill, because it's the sort of thing that could not be kept
quiet. So I'll keep it quiet. As for the rest, it includes some casting on some upcoming
parts. These parts, some at least, would be spoilers in and of their own right. BEWARE.
Some serious cool spoilers ahead. Nothing to ruin the films, unless you don't want to
know some characters. You choose. Here it comes...
As you may know prelimary casting for Episode II is underway. Robin
Gurland is searching for some key figures for the second prequel and
I'll let you know who some of them are. I hope my name provides you
with a clue that I am in the know, but be your own judge I suppose.
Mon Mothma:
As some of the die hard fans might expect this character will factor
into second prequel during the Senate scenes on Coruscant. There are
a number of actresses being looked at for the part. I can say that
we'd like to get Kate Winslet, but she seems to have become a star
since Titanic and the role might be too small for her now. The rest
of the group we are looking at consists of unknowns for the most part.
Tarkin:
Tarkin will not appear in Episode 1. He has been rumored to do so, by
anyone who tells you he will be in it is lying. We are seriously
considering Ben Cross for the part. The characer will have a small
role in the second prequel, but will get serious screen time in the
final chapter, as the legions of the Empire rise to power.
The leader of the Mandalorians:
The Mandalorians don't show up until Episode 2 either, Harry. Will
Patton is being considered as their leader.
Of course you are familiar with the Charlton Heston rumor. That rumor
was so prominant we're considering putting Heston in a background
scene in the second prequel for a lark. I doubt we'll do it though,
since Ms. Gurland and Mr. McCallum have denied it so fervently. It
would turn into another Ewan McGregor thing, wouldn't it? The fans
would call us liars, etc. [HARRY NOTE: Don't ya think that would be petty as hell,
if something works, use it, don't be afraid of hurting your credibility!!!!]
Bail Organa:
Anthony Hopkins is George's first choice for the character. George
really wants him, but nothing is official.
And I know you are waiting for this one...
Anakin:
Well, there's not much I can tell you. We are looking almost strickly
at unknowns. Someone who looks both like Jake Lloyd and like
Sebastian Shaw is required (and of course this person has to act).
I apoligize if you've heard all of this already, but I don't check the
web sites all that often.
There you have it. Don't know if a lick of it is true, you other Star Wars spies sound
off!!!
