Roadkill Russ is off talking about GREGORY'S 2 GIRLS...

My silly nephew, Roadkill Russ, has written in to me in his typically gruff manner... even daring to call me BOY... Hmph! Well, at least he's bringing us word on a film that has had an ever so soft hum... or buzz even. GREGORY'S 2 GIRLS... Well, I know you might not of heard of it, but I have. It came up back when we were talking about Dougray Scott as Wolverine... and it was being mentioned to me as being quite a fun romp. Well, our tire-track-scarred friend Russ is here to take it the rest of the way... Here he is...

Harry boy,

Got a review of the latest big brit flick just out at the weekend that deserves a mention on your site.

Gregory's 2 Girls is a sequal to the 1980 film Gregory's girl and both are written and directed by local Scottish director Bill Forsyth, if you have not seen the original then GO GET IT, it is superb, and so funny!! (that's if you can get a hold of it over there)

Anyway back to the sequal, basically Gregory is still in Cumbernauld as in the original but instead of being a pupil at Cumbernauld Grammer School he is an English teacher there and 18 years older, and he is having sexual fantasies about one of his sexier pupils Frances while at the same time the sex starved music teacher is throwing herself upon him to which he is declining as he is still 'a stranger with the ways of the ladies' and he finds her a bit too full on.

There are some great comedy moment that look as if they came straight out of American Pie, including a confused conversation about badgers and beavers (I will leave that one to the imagination). There is a great supporting role from the rising star Dougray Scott, who appears to have lost the almighty Wolverine role, but that is another story altogether, which I am sure by now Uncle Harry has told you all about.

Dougray plays a potential Bill Gates character, the Mr Big of Cumbernauld, who is developing the latest computer equipment and seems to encourage Gregory's fantasies with Frances, as he feels it is about time that Gregory's cherry was popped, and Frances would be perfect for the job.

But it is not all sex here (unfortunatelly) as it turns out that 'mr Big' is actually developing technology for the use of torture and Frances turns to Gregory for help to thwart his plans, which brings the teacher and pupil a bit closer.

Well I will bring out the age old critisism of 'it's not as good as the original' but it is nice to see how Scotlands favourite lanky plonker has got on in his life and tat nt much has really changed with him. Go see it for a good laugh and find out for yourselves which girl gets Gregory, and witness the hilarity that ensues when he does actually 'get' her.
