I am – Hercules!!
Despite the rumors swirling a couple months ago, Paul Greengrass (“United 93,” the two “Bourne” sequels) will not be directing “Fantastic Voyage,” according to Deadline Hollywood. Two excerpts:
Greengrass had been in talks for Fantastic Voyage but never committed, despite all the hoopla in the trades.
Greengrass was the first -- and so far only -- director shown the script, but that will change shortly as Cameron and Fox look to land another big name.
The sci-fi material always struck me as an odd match for the filmmaker, but I was pleased to hear the project might go to someone with a great track record.
The script is by Shane Salerno (“Armageddon,” “Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem”), whose hits are perhaps less beloved than Greengrass’s.
For those unfamiliar, it's a remake of the 1966 movie about a shrunken medical team tasked with alleviating health issues from the inside. That movie's screen story was co-written by Jerome Bixby between his "Twilight Zone" and "Star Trek" scripts.
