Fans of funny people working together, rejoice! Deadline New York is reporting that the writing trio of David Wain, Ken Marino and Paul Rudd are teaming up once again for WANDERLUST, a comedy about a married couple that opts to go off the grid and live on a hippie commune. Wain will direct the film (which, as my pal Devin Faraci noted at CHUD, sounds a tad bit like a riff on LOST IN AMERICA), while Rudd will star as the husband. The lovely, talented, yet rarely well-utilized (outside of television) Jennifer Aniston will play the wife.
Judd Apatow will produce the film, which will give Wain, Marino and Rudd a strong advocate in dealing with the studio (the less-meddlesome-than-most Universal). Hopefully, the boys will have plenty of leeway to make a smart adult comedy - something along the lines of AWAY WE GO, but a little more pointed. I'm a huge fan of everyone involved in this film, so I'm expecting nothing short of ORDET.
