The N.W.A. Movie Gets A Writer...

Andrea Berloff (Oliver Stone's WORLD TRADE CENTER) is taking on a project about rappers N.W.A. - the film would be produced by Ice Cube, who left the group in late '89/early '90.

Berloff is writing "Straight Outta Compton," the story of the rise and fall of the Compton, Calif.-based group, whose initials read Niggas With Attitude. The members included drug dealer turned label founder Eazy-E, young disc jockey Dr. Dre and the politically bent Ice Cube, plus MC Ren and DJ Yella.

..says THR HERE. All the way around, this could be a pretty fascinating story - Andrea's an interesting writer who wouldn't necessarily be the obvious choice for a picture like this, which makes her selection all the more compelling as far as I'm concerned. No word yet on who'll direct...
