Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. If you thought the ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK remake was dead, you're fucking wrong. Although Gerard Butler is not attached anymore (however I did hear some slight rumblings that he might not be completely down for the count) it seems New Line ain't willing to let it go.
According to THR's Heat Vision Blog New Line has brought on Breck Eisner who recently directed THE CRAZIES, which met with good critical reception and decent box office, to direct.
This is an interesting move as Eisner is also attached to the Flash Gordon remake.
Borys Kit says that Allan Loeb draft is sticking, which serves as a semi-remake/semi-prequel telling Snake's origin... Hopefully that doesn't mean baby Snake... but I imagine it's seeing Snake's failed robbery that gets him in cuffs in the first place.
Eisner's got a big job ahead of him, but I gotta say he's a major step up from Len Wiseman. After seeing what he did to Die Hard I'd enter some kind of depression if he actually farted around in Snake Plissken's world. Hell, I'd be pissed if he tried to remake ESCAPE FROM LA, that's how much I don't like the idea of him in this universe.
Who wants to place bets on when Samuel L. Jackson is cast as Duke of New York A Numbah Ooooonnnnneeee?
