While we're waiting for the resurrection of Gordon Gekko in Oliver Stone's WALL STREET: MONEY NEVER SLEEPS, it looks like we might have another damn fine Michael Douglas performance to tide us over in Brian Koppelman and David Levien's SOLITARY MAN. Let's check out the trailer...
It appears like Douglas is playing a cross between Gekko and Grady Tripp from WONDER BOYS, which more than works for me. I certainly can't argue with the supporting cast (great to see Douglas and DeVito together again). There seems to be a lot of story crammed into the trailer (more than it can handle, really), but Koppelman and Levien are more than capable of handling a sprawling, unconventional narrative (which reminds me I'd love to read their draft of THE WINTER OF FRANKIE MACHINE).
SOLITARY MAN opens May 21st. Looking forward to it.
