Well... whichever concept he goes with I'm very interested in. We just don't have people that cover the subject matters that Solodnz thrives on, and he does a fantastic job of working it. So for now, this is the latest rumor about what he is doing next. The second one has one gal friend of mine squeeling with joygasms. The master of sexual confusion, self-hatred, and deathly torment, writer/director Todd Solondz ("Happiness" , "Welcome To The Dollhouse") is at it again! And Harry, have I got the scoop for you. From extremly reliable sources (ahheem...family) I come to you with this info. What is Todds Next Project??!?!
Well he is considering two things right now- as soon as Todd finished "Dollhouse" he was extremly fixiated on the univeral theme of SURVIVAL, not like climbing a mountain or life or death experiences but surviving the ultimate challenge.....the ultimate endeavor.....life and its many, many, midadventures.
Now he started taking some notes on the subject and how he would approach this some-what novel idea, and then the answer came......DOCUMENTARY. Interviews with people who know the subject all too well. He would divide it up into different sections: the first the realization of homosexuality in a world of discrimination (mostly focusing on the family's reactions) Another would be the examination of men and women who have been locked away for crimes they claim to have never commited....another which he was considering was to study wive's who live in unsuccesfull marriages.
Now people, I don't know, with Todd Solondz I am sure these subjects and the many more would and/or will be a whole fucking lot more interesting and more controversial.....but it definatly sounds like something he could execute with total perfection and understanding.
Like I said there is more........he was also taking under consideration creating just another plain old film, however there is a catch to this one.....and it might be the strangest, most warped pair up in the history of film! John Water's and Solondz are and have been in talks to collaborate since "Happiness's" success. Apparently Water's has been quoted on many occasions calling Solondz "An absolute genious!". This should be good. I am told its possible they will each do a short film and then at the end have their two film's characters and plot intersect with one another's. I am a Solondz and Waters fan so for me this would be fucking SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
