Checkmate! AICN's Got An Exclusive Tim Burton Sketch Of The Red Queen From ALICE IN WONDERLAND!

Beaks here...

Disney's been parceling out some very clever marketing materials over the last few weeks to help promote Tim Burton's upcoming ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Earlier this month, I received a ridiculously oversized tome for which I've yet to find a proper place on my bookshelf. Today, I've got something a bit more manageable: a super-cool Burton sketch of Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen. Check it out!

Here's the official character synopsis from Disney...

IRACEBETH, THE RED QUEEN (Helena Bonham Carter) is the tyrannical monarch of Underland. With her oversized head, fiery temper and propensity to scream for people’s heads to be chopped off, she rules her subjects through fear. “She’s got emotional problems,” says Bonham Carter. “It takes nothing, practically, for her to lose her temper. Her tantrums are that of a two-year-old.” Her younger sibling, the White Queen, has designs on the throne and crown that Iracebeth once stole from her.

For more sketches, hit up Cinematical, Yahoo! and IGN. I'm particularly excited that this is basically Tim Burton's RETURN TO WONDERLAND, with a certain emphasis on Lewis Carroll's nonsense poem "Jabberwocky". He could've very easily concocted a Burton-esque vision of Carroll's too-oft-told fairy tale, but, by all accounts, he's made the material his own (with assistance from screenwriter Linda Woolverton). ALICE IN WONDERLAND opens wide (in 3-D!) on March 5th.
