Guy Ritchie Dumping LOBO For Another SHERLOCK HOLMES Adventure?? Evidently...

Merrick here...
A few weeks ago we learned that Robert Downey, Jr. was jumping away from Jon Favreau's COWBOYS & ALIENS to allow room in his schedule for a potential SHERLOCK HOLMES schedule (details HERE). Now, the L.A. Times has a quote from Joel Silver about the status of Ritchie's LOBO movie. Sounds like Guy may at least postpone that project...if not ditch it that he can get to work on Holmes' next adventure.
"I don't think he's going to do it now," Silver said of Ritchie directing "Lobo." "The studio wants us and Guy to focus on making another 'Sherlock Holmes.' So I think we're going to be doing that. But we're seeing what happens with this. Everybody is analyzing everything. It's all kind of happening right now as we talk. 'Sherlock' is sitting at just about $400 million in worldwide gross and showing itself to be pretty effective and pretty strong. So we're trying to see if we can do something quickly with another 'Sherlock Holmes' movie. We have some ideas and some good story points. [EDIT] Downey loves the experience of playing Sherlock and would love to play him again, and I'd love to see him play it again. Jude and all of them will be back and it will be great."
...says Silver in THIS L.A. Times write-up. Hopefully, Silver's reference to doing "something quickly" won't equate to a half-assed run at a sequel. Loved how full & well-balanced the first movie felt. Downey, Jr. recently received a Golden Globe for his performance as Sherlock - it'll be interesting to see if this translates to an Oscar nomination. We'll see next week...
