Paramount Vantage & Davis Guggenheim Are WAITING FOR SUPERMAN!! But It's Not A New Supes Movie...

Merrick here...
Paramount Vantage has bagged the worldwide rights to Davis Guggenheim's school crisis documentary WAITING FOR SUPERMAN. Details HERE. You may remember Guggenheim for his 2006 Al Gore/global warming vehicle AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH.
The doc features several leaders in the field of education, including philanthropist Bill Gates of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; Geoffrey Canada, president and CEO of the Harlem Children's Zone in Harlem, New York: and Michelle Rhee, chancellor of the Washington, D.C., public schools.
Early this week I checked out Guggenheim's most recent doc - IT MIGHT GET LOUD - on Blu-Ray and really enjoyed it. If features Jimmy Page, Jack White, and The Edge discussing their relationship to music, what drew them into the field, etc, and it's quite interesting. Great early footage of performance by all of them - some interesting insight from The Edge about how U2 is still pretty much the group he played with way back in his school days. Page and The Edge seem surprisingly relaxed, approachable, and seem to truly love what they do. Jack White comes across as affected and douchey, but whatever. Cool stuff. Guggenheim has previously directed episodes of ER, DEADWOOD, and 24.
