Lautner Is, But Cruise Isn't, In NORTHERN LIGHTS!!

Merrick here...
Earlier this week, we got wind that Taylor Lautner would be joining Tom Cruise in John Moore's NORTHERN LIGHTS (details HERE). This news came to us via Nikki Finke at Deadline, in an article which also posted a synopsis of the film (still available through the link above). Seems there's been some confusion regarding Cruise's involvement with this project - and about the concept of the film itself. While Lautner is involved with the movie, seems Tom is not. EW shed some light on the matter:

Taylor Lautner is set to star in the action movie Northern Lights, which, contrary to reports stating otherwise, will not feature Tom Cruise. [EDIT] “Set against the backdrop of extreme flying, Northern Lights follows four young pilots as they compete against the world’s best. A story of teamwork, sacrifice, loss, and victory, these young aviators push themselves to physical and emotional limits in the unforgiving world of performance aerobatics."

The original synopsis included a reference to the main character's "controlling, billionaire father" - this reference has been dropped from the log line as well. Looks like the start date for this one is still April 1.
