Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announced Monday that all three “Lord of the Rings” movies arrive on Blu-ray in a complete trilogy package April 6.
The good news is the price is reasonable for new Blu-ray: the suggested retail price is $99.98, which Amazon has already marked down to $69.99, or $23.33 per feature.
The bad news is the new set will contain only the theatrical versions. Those of us waiting for HD versions of the longer, extended edits, the ones long issued on DVD, will have to wait longer. And Warner has not specified how much longer.
Disappointing!
Ralph Bakshi's 1978 animated version of "Lord of the Rings" hits Blu-ray a week later, on April 13.
