Claude Rains reported in that Andy Mangel's HOLLYWOOD HEROES reported that Bill Pullman has signed on to play the President in the Independence Day Sequel ID 2000.
BUT... This would be a 20th Century Fox production, and last I heard Emmerich and Devlin weren't likely to be continuing there. Last I heard, it was more likely that the cool film making duo were going to head to the wonderful world of SONY.
BUT... Dr. Sane, I believe, tells me that the script for the STARBLAZERS movie (which is at Disney) has landed in their hands. So right now, we have Emmerich and Devlin contemplating Bond at Sony and StarBlazers at Disney.
Personally I think Emmerich and Devlin doing STARBLAZERS is about as friggin' cool as it can possibly be. And the idea of a sequel to Independence Day... well... doesn't. Hopefully they'll move down the road to cooler flicks. No matter what direction they head, we'll be watching!!!
