Merrick here...
This should've been posted yesterday, but I got tieed up prepping an AVATAR piece for next week. In short: Clint over at MovieHole spoke with ZOMBIELAND director Ruben Fleischer about whether or not we might get a sequel.
I had the chance to chat to “Zombieland” director Ruben Fleischer yesterday, who confirmed Sony are very interested in a “Zombieland” sequel. And he’s ready to go. The original cast – Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone & Abigail Breslin – are also ready to slap another coffin dodger with the, er, ‘rule’ book. In other words, unless the events of "2012" come true... we'll be seeing a sequel in a couple of years. But the most interesting development? Fleischer says the next film will likely be 3-D - yep, mother-hopping three-dimensional Woody vs. Zombie action!!
...says MovieHole HERE. It should be noted that sequel shenanigans at Sony seem to be odd. Shortly after its release, we learned that some sort of DISTRICT 9 follow-up was in the wind - although now we're hearing that possibility is looking less likely. Conversely, we were once told a sequel to HANCOCK was maybe/kinda/sorta possible (but a long ways off) - a few months later we heard writers had been assigned to the film. In other words, who knows what'll happen with more ZOMBIELAND.
