THE HOWLING: REBORN Would Like A Piece Of Your Mind!

Beaks here...

A couple of weeks ago, ShockTilYouDrop spied this poster for a proposed remake of Joe Dante's THE HOWLING at the American Film Market. Sometimes, a poster is just a poster (I still have a 1990 Cannes issue of Variety with a two-page ad for Menahem Golan's SPIDER-MAN). And sometimes, we're just not that lucky. According to Variety, "former studio marketing exec" Joe Nimziki is set to start shooting THE HOWLING: REBORN this February. Nimziki will be working from his own screenplay (presumably based on John Sayles's original). Joel Kastelberg and Moonstone Entertainment's Etchie Stroh will produce, while Steve Lang and Bob Pringle will take exec credits (as they did on the 1981 film). Nimziki was once the head of marketing at MGM before moving on to New Line. He ankled/was removed from that post in 2001, and, to the best of my knowledge, has been attempting to jump start his directing career ever since. According to Wikipedia, Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin named James Rebhorn's hawkish-and-imbecilic Secretary of Defense in INDEPENDENCE DAY after Nimziki 'cuz they plain didn't like him. Sounds like the next Joe Dante to me!
