Broken Lizard's THE SLAMMIN' SALMON gets picked up for theatrical release this December!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I recently saw the Broken Lizard guys' live show here in Austin which was a mixture of sketch, audience participation and stand-up. Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme did a great tribute to Patrick Swayze, recalling a horrible first encounter story of their meeting with someone they considered an idol. Anyway, they mentioned during this show that their new movie was going to be seeing theatrical release this December and now we're getting news of just what that is. Anchor Bay's theatrical distribution arm will be distributing THE SLAMMIN' SALMON according to Variety. The flick is about a one night competition between a group of waiters where the top seller gets a $10,000 bonus and the loser gets the shit beat out of them by Michael Clarke Duncan who plays the dumb ex-boxer owner of this swanky Miami restaurant.

I saw The Slammin' Salmon at SXSW this year and really dug it (proof here), but I'm an easy sell on Broken Lizard. I haven't loved everything they've done, but I've at least liked everything they've done. Salmon might not top Super Troopers, but it's damn funny in its own right and probably their most successful movie since. Being this is an Anchor Bay release I'm guessing we won't see a very wide release on this, but I'm sure it'll play key places around the country. More details as they emerge! -Quint quint@aintitcool.com Follow Me On Twitter
