The Writer (And Maybe Director) Of The VENOM Movie Is...

Looks like Columbia may be closer to giving Venom his own movie. Venom was introduced into the SPIDER-MAN film franchise via SPIDER-MAN 3, in which he was played by Topher Grace (who seemed way more alive than Maguire did in that film). It's unclear whether Grace...or a differtent actor...would portray Venom in a full-on feature built around the character.

Gary Ross is writing “Venom,” Columbia’s “Spider-Man” spinoff based on one of the villains from “Spider-Man 3,” as a potential directing vehicle. Ross is already writing “Spider-Man 4” for the studio. [EDIT] The studio had no comment on Grace’s involvement nor on Ross writing the project.
