Hey folks, Harry here with the wonderful news that BUTT-NUMB-A-THON 11 aka BNAT1138 is officially getting underway.
At this point - I have a few films, am beginning the vintage film search and for the past few weeks I've been working on a few things here and there.
This year, BNAT1138 takes place on December 12th at noon - through December 13th at noon. The BNAT pre-party will be at the luxurious HIGH BALL, right next to the Alamo Drafthouse South, where the event will most likely be held. Beginning in about a week to week and a half, I will have a link to the page for submissions. And as usual - I will produce the BNAT List of attendees the day after Halloween.
For BNAT hopefuls. This year it will be required that you have a straight-on photo of yourself BALD. Now - no, I'm not asking that you all shave your heads. Well, unless your name is Jeff Mahler, Tim Wick and Patricia Knowles... You can accomplish this effect with a BALD CAP, a shower cap, swimming cap... whatever. If you have a beard or other facial hair - that's fine. I'm asking this - because... well... it's Kevin Conran's fault.
You see. For this year's BNAT poster - I turned to Kevin Conran. I became friendly with Kevin during the long development time on JOHN CARTER OF MARS, while working on that with Paramount and his brother Kerry Conran. The work that Kevin did was exquisite. Since SKY CAPTAIN, his work has been working on the Visual Development of a number of film projects - but I wanted to get Kevin to do something to show all of you - and more to the point. I wanted to see what Kevin would come up with.
When we were discussing the poster concept - he told me he'd throw together a few loose sketches and we'd go from there. Well in and amongst that work was a recreation of the THX1138 badge that Duvall wears in that film - and I decided pretty much on the spot - that we had to go that route with the BNAT badges this year - and that requires a BALD PHOTO of you - to pull it off. Here's the early rough assembly of the badge that Kevin sketched up. The final version will be... PERFECT. I'll share the Poster sketch on my next post.
So as you can see - we need a straight on shot. So, if you plan to submit for possible inclusion for this year's BNAT - I figured I'd give you extra notice. To get your picture ready!

For the past several years - there has been a growingly complicated BNAT PRE-PARTY - running the Friday night, before BNAT! This year - that party will take place at the amazing HIGHBALL, the keenest joint that has ever been rolled! You see, in addition to being an amazing bar, dance hall, karaoke and generally awesome party locale... it also has Bowling & most importantly vintage SKEEBALL!!!
