I am – Hercules!!
One of the most entertaining, innovative, seminal and ridiculously influential TV shows in the history of history, “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” debuted on BBC1 Monday, Oct. 5, 1969, at 10:55 p.m.
I know this because I am somewhat coincidentally paused on the purely wonderful six-hour documentary “Monty Python: Almost The Truth,”
which hits IFC Oct. 18-23.
I’ll likely be jotting down more about the documentary later, but I wanted to commemorate the date.
Remember that the lower-case term “spam,” meaning something both unwanted and unavoidable, is only one of the show’s insane number of contributions to modern culture:
