So yesterday, I put up the trailer link to PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, and today is when I tell you about the ambitious way that this film is going to screen and open around the country. First off, let's talk about the Chicago screening. It will happen simultaneously with the Fantastic Fest screening on Thursday, September 24 at 11:59pm at the Music Box Theatre, 3733 N Southport Ave. in Chicago.
It's a 750-seat venue that we've never done a screening in before, so this will be an interesting experiment. Now, I will not be in attendance for the Chicago screening, since I'll be in Austin, but our very own AICN @$$hole, Ambush Bug, will be running the show and filling in as host this time around.
Here's the other twist, but I think it's a twist that will make it possible for everyone who wants to attend this screening to get in. If you think you have the guts to check out what is reported to be one of the scariest movies in a very long time, you should RSVP to www.paranormalmovie.com/chicago. You can watch the trailer at this site as well. Each person attending must fill out an RSVP. This is not a +1 situation. But the good news is that if you have 10 friends that want to go, all they have to do is go to the RSVP site, and you don't have to write an essay for me to win. The only restriction is that all attendees must be 17 years of age or older. There will still be a guest list, IDs will be checked, same as always.
Here's another cool thing. Paramount wants you all to tell the world what you think of the film after you see it. There will be camera crews on hand to gather reactions; they want you to Twitter, write up the movie on Facebook and MySpace. Whatever you do to get the word out, that's what they want you to do. That covers Chicago. Good luck, and you probably want to arrive early.
There will also be screenings the same night at theaters in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta, and Seattle. To attend any of these screenings, go to www.paranormalmovie.com/(name of city)--so Los Angeles would be paranormalmovie.com/losangeles, and so on.
You can see a list of cities where the film will actually be opening or screening on September 25, but if you don't see your town on the list, you can demand that it open where you are. Go to ParanormalMovie.com or Demand It and vote to bring this film to your neck of the woods. If the demand is high enough, the film will drop in your city. Simple as that.
