Here's a tidbit that I guess wouldn't really be a casting tidbit... but then again it is. Jay Roach, director of the upcoming HITCH-HIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY, was recently doing an online chat and mentioned who Douglas Adams wanted to play Arthur Dent, waver of towels and all. Now the stating of this name does not mean he's got the part... it's just who the author wants to play the part and authors rarely get what they want in Hollywood. But I figured I'd put it out there for all of you folks to bandy about.

You may know this nugget already, but when Jay Roach took part in a Yahoo chat event I questioned him about the 'Hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy' film. The guy was annoyingly tight-lipped about it, but he did let slip that Douglas Adams was keen to get Hugh Laurie to play the part of Arthur Dent.
