Bloody-disgusting.com reported Friday a rumor that Robert Downey Jr. is in talks with Universal to take over the role of bisexual bloodsucking nobleman turned rock star Lestat Du Lioncort.
The character was played in 1994's “Interview With A Vampire” by Tom Cruise and by Stuart Townsend in 2002's “Queen of the Damned,” both based on novels by Anne Rice.
Rice has written 10 books in the Vampire Chronicles saga that features Lestat, but there’s no word on which, if any, the proposed new movie will be based.
Will Downey make a good Lestat? Well, of course! Downey, Oscar-nominated for his roles as movie actors Charlie Chaplin and Kirk Lazarus, can do anything!
