To people like me that worship the ground that student, who conducted experiments in his bedroom with natural electricity and the Lochnar, walks on. Well, let's just say that I love HEAVY METAL. Now some may not. Some may dismiss it as a "adolescent grade Z fantasy animation made to degrade women, and give millions of would be humans wetdreams." I say, "SO WHAT!!!!" Ok, I admit it, Taarna is the queen of cartoon fantasy women in my eyes. (Betty Boop, Jessica Rabbit, and Ki Ki [for RoboGeek] coming in a close 2nd, 3rd and 4th) Den is a god, and the score for his sequence is AWESOME, I hum it most days of my life (wish I had it on CD, but the damn thing costs a bloody fortune). And then the pop soundtrack, well I'm stuck on 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's and EIGHTIES music and dammit... I LOVE IT!!! No pretention here, every song is like a pill of fun, without the violent residual tendencies. Well, then I heard talk of this here HEAVY METAL 2 F.A.K.K. that's planned to come out sometime winter of 1998 or 1999. Well, I started frothing at the mouth.
Then I heard from Basil "Ploog" Giraud that it isn't a 'series of stories' but rather one long one. Now I remember hearing that Kevin Eastman's Girl Friend is the 'source' for the MEGABABE in this one. Well 'Ploog' tells me that Carl Macek (of Robotech fame) is involved and apparently the film uses CG characters with hand-animated backgrounds. (or was it CG backgrounds and hand animated characters?) Turns out this ain't no 'sequel' but more along the lines of a NEW MOVIE. Now it'll be in the tone of HEAVY METAL (the magazine) and involves a megababe's adventures on a screwed up planet. In one scene she apparently sleeps with an entire army to keep them at bay. (huh huh huh cooool) Now Ivan Reitman isn't involved. Now folks I don't want the "paintings" by Bisley, I want to see real animation from the film. Cel setup. That's what I'm dying to see. Well, it's a long time off, but keep your eyes open. Also they aren't gonna go with some modern day INDUSTRIAL are they. They need to go with some cool stuff, heck, bring back DEVO, JOURNEY, BLUE OYSTER CULT, STEVIE NICKS, BLACK SABBATH, and bring back the timeless classic sound of the EARLY EIGHTIES!!!!! YEAH!!!!!
