Remember That P.T. Barnum Movie We Told You About?? Now It's Starring Hugh Jackman...And Is A Musical...

Merrick here...
A few weeks ago, we learned that Fox was ramping up to make a movie about circus god P.T. Barnum (HERE). That film, announced by Variety as THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH, has apparently tweaked its title to become THE GREATEST SHOWMAN ON EARTH. A subtle but significant change. Now comes word that Hugh Jackman has been attached to star, that a role in the film is being shaped for the insanely desirable Anne Hathaway...
...and that the project is a musical!
Jackman will play the showman with a penchant for hoaxing a gullible public as he creates the three-ring circus that made him famous. The musical also focuses on his infatuation with singer Jenny Lind -- the so-called Swedish Nightingale. Pic will have a contemporary musical score, and the studio is in talks with British singer-songwriter Mika to write music and lyrics. The musical follows the old Hollywood tradition in which tuners were scripted with specific actors in mind. The Lind role is being scripted for Anne Hathaway, who teamed with Jackman in his opening Oscars number.
...says Variety HERE. Regarding Mika. Here's a sample of his work:

...and HERE. So, basically, Fox wants another MOULIN ROUGE! and this is gonna be it. As much as I intrinsically want to disagree with anything Fox does, I kinda enjoy Mikas music and can...in a twisted way...actually imagine this project working.
