VERONICA MARS Mastermind Rob Thomas Developing Starz Rocker Hourlong WATERLOO!!

I am – Hercules!!

Rob Thomas, who already has the showbiz-failure sitcom “Party Down” producing a second season for Starz, is at work developing a second series for the pay channel. “Waterloo” is a prospective scripted hourlong that would follow a struggling rock band, based on Thomas’ own youthful experiences trying to launch a music career. The rock angle may be slightly confusing to music fans because the Rob Thomas creating the series is the Rob Thomas who created “Cupid” and “Veronica Mars,” and not the singer-songwriter from real-life rock band Matchbox Twenty. Longtime AICN contributor RoboGeek tells me he and Thomas long ago had a conversation about Thomas' dream of developing a series about Austin's music scene. And Austin's original name, apparently, was Waterloo! Find all of Variety’s story on Starz’ in-production and developing projects here. Ladies and gentlemen, Rachel Griffiths and Toni Collette:
