Alright, I'm now dying to see this short of Lasseter's. It sounds cool as can be. Does anyone out there have a copy of this thing? Lasseter should put it out on the next superduper film to DVD that Pixar has. Or... Pixar just needs to assemble a DVD that has all the PIXAR and stars of PIXAR's animated shorts. That'd be cool. Or at least I think so.
Monster, INC. sounds to be a take of a short Lasseter did in college, called Monsters, I believe... he won a student Emmy for it...
It was about a little boy who was afraid to turn off his bedroom lights at night because the shadows would turn into monsters. So when the lights would go out and the monsters would appear, he would turn the light back on. Well, he started flicking the light switch so fast once, that the monster didn't have the chance to disappear, so it now was stuck in the boy's "real world". In a cute moment, both the boy AND the monster got scared of each other and both jumped under the boy's bed covers. After a little time, they both became friends and the little boy became buddies with all of the monsters in his room. Just like Toy Story, Lasseter did a great job of remembering what it is like to be a little kid and helping his audience bring back those wonderful days too...
Check it out if you have never seen it. You, of all people, probably can get your hands on that short if you tried hard enough...
