Meanwhile the Mexican Bela Lugosi, Abel Salazar gave me some insight into the highly anticipated, "WING COMMANDER THE MOVIE." Personally don't ya think them fellas ought to just call it: Wing Commander. I mean all us gaming fans know that it's gonna be the movie, we won't be confused, and in the meanwhile the non-gamers will say, "Wing Commander The Movie" that sounds stupid, and just walk by the gigaplex without batting an eye. I'm not a big fan of "the movie" movies. Personally I like a tagline I've heard around Austin, "This ain't no Simulation" I don't know if this is real or not, but I heard it from an Origin type (Though I don't believe Origin Systems is involved in the film)
Future Academy Award winning production designer Peter Lamont (he did TITANIC, ALIENS, buncha Bonds) is hard at work designing away the world of WING COMMANDER. Now I'm going to depress a lot of you folks... Mark Hamill does not play Christopher Blair. This film is supposed to take place prior to the events in the Hamill "Wing Commanders". So who did they fing to kill Kilrathi and assorted scum? Well Freddy Prinze Jr. That's right that dark-haired lead dude from "I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER". Well, I know you are depressed, but hey that's life. I wonder who they'll reel in for the part of Angel Devereaux, or that 'Biff' character or the 'Alex' character. Well that's if they are even in the film. It's not a given. Well it was a bit odd getting this info from the great Mexican Bela Lugosi, Abel Salazar, but then that's the cool part of this job of mine. You wing ding with the most cool of the cool, and hear the neatest of the neat. Well at least I can pass some of it on.
Also I had a couple of top spies provide 'back up info" on the above report. This stuff is pretty damn good, so read on! Jiminy the Crickett, Hollywood's conscience, is well on the way to earning his golden badge. I just love hearing Jiminy sing with those legs of his. Well it looks like they are putting a pretty interesting cast of young talent together. Here's Jiminy...
The Wing Commander movie.
It starts shooting in Luxembourg in late February. The cast includes: Freddie Prinz Jr., Matt Lillard, Saffron Burrows, and Cechi Cerrio. The design work they've done on the space ships and Kilrathi cats is fantatastic. They've got Cameron's fave production designer working on it. I forget this guy's name, but he's the one from Titanic.
Then we got this report from Remo Williams here, straight from his latest training session with Chiun. After an incredible battle with the 8" feline security guards at Chris Robert's office, he managed to use his Sinanju techniques which convinced Chris to pass out. Then Remo searched the office comfortable in the fact that Chris was out for 15 seconds, which gave him plenty of time to find out the following:
Once again, Remo Williams here. Since I successfully accomplished my former tasks of running across water, dodging bullets, and getting those pics from ARMAGEDDON, I went on my new mission. To find information on WING COMMANDER.
So, I threw my wet suit on and hopped on my board and did some web surfing. It took me to the Official Matthew Lillard homepage at http://www.execpc.com/~theshape/lillard.htm What did I find out? I found some casting information that those of you who liked the game, might be interested in hearing about. It looks like Matthew Lillard -- who played Stu in SCREAM -- will play Maniac in the movie version. Freddie Prinze, Jr. (from I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER) will play Blair. The blonde chick from CIRCLE OF FRIENDS will probably co-star as well, and they're trying to get Ben Kingsley.
Until my next mission...Remo Williams
The fantastic G-WoMan kicked many chauvinistic thugs around till the dawn's early light. Seems like alot of agents hopped onto this here Wing Commander news. Hopefully we'll get lots more info as the project moves forward!!! Thanks to all spies involved, yall are a fighting force to be proud of!!!
Hey Harry, I've got some confirmed info about the casting for the Wing Commander movie. It seems that Matthew Lillard (who is best known as Stu in "Scream" or Chip from "Serial Mom") has signed on to play the part of Maniac. Also, Freddie Prinze, Jr. (of "I Know What You Did Last Summer") will be playing Blair. This will supposedly be announced as official sometime after the first of the year.
Now for the unsubstantiated stuff... There have also been talks that Minnie Driver will be in it, and they are currently working on trying to get Ben Kingsley to co-star as well. Only time will tell if these two come true.
