Got a bunch of HD-DVDs sitting around gathering dust? WB is offering an HD-DVD to Blu-Ray Trade-In!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. When I woke up this morning there was a press release from Warner Home Video announcing an HD-DVD trade-in program called red2blu. If you go to www.red2blu.com you can scan their titles released on HD-DVD and for $4.95 per title you can trade in your HD-DVDs for the same title in Blu-Ray. If you're like me and jumped into the High-Def pool a little too early you can now replace a lot of your HD's with Blu-Rays. Since I don't want to drop a ton of money on a combo player and would love to free up an HDMI input, this is really exciting for me. The biggest benefits are actually in the Matrix and Harry Potter Box Sets. I bought the HD-DVD Potter box set and haven't wanted to drop another $100 for the BR version. But instead of charging their $4.95 per title (which is almost $25 for all 5 movies), I'm paying only $14.95. The best part is they only want your inserts, so if you still have an HD-DVD player hooked up you get to keep your discs and your cases. They just want the paper inserts sent to them. I think it's a fantastic move for Warners. Between this and their awesome Archives section they're cornering home video awesomeness. I just placed my order. The shipping was only $6.95 for 22 titles as well as the Harry Potter 1-5 set and Planet Earth. With tax, shipping and the cost of the upgrade I essentially spent the equivalent of rebuying 5 of the Blu-Rays. Figured some of you out there might be interested.
